Back in April, I posted “Kid-Friendly Restaurants on the Hill: Is the Struggle for Real?” after reading a DCist article lamenting the lack of family-friendly choices in D.C. The post received a great many comments on the Hill East Facebook group page and inspired a lot of discussion with friends too. I compiled all the feedback, and the conclusion is: Families are enjoying a glut of restaurants on the Hill.
Looking for camp for a little one? Capitol Hill Cooperative Nursery School (CHCNS) has limited spots for kids 2.5 to 5 years old for half day, full day and aftercare options. Camp is held for five weeks, beginning next week, at the Capitol Hill United Methodist Church, 421 Seward Sq SE.
Specifically, Southwest Library is currently closed for construction, and Southeast and Northeast libraries added activities, shifted some of the baby/toddler story times and/or changed whether registration is required.
This past Saturday, AJ and I visited Makeshift for the first time for the Pizza and Picasso craft night, where little moppets made Father’s Day cards (as pictured above) and had their fill of pizza and lemonade.

Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) is offering free Saturday art experiences for the whole family with Summer Saturdays, starting tomorrow. Each Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, amazing teaching artists will lead families in a guided art project.
The activities are open to kids 4 and up with an adult. No registration is required. Donations encouraged to go toward tuition assistance. No class on July 6. See CHAW’s calendar.
