The DC State Fair, a daylong celebration of all things homegrown, is coming up fast on Sept. 8. The family-friendly fun includes a kids’ ice cream eating contest, a kids’ watermelon seed-spitting contest and a pet parade (see more here). This year’s fair also includes a kids’ tent with activities such as origami and story time, plus a performance by King Bullfrog (see schedule here).

The DC State Fair, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, will be held 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at Gateway DC, a park and pavilion in the heart of St. Elizabeth’s East Campus at 2700 Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave SE.
The fair still has some slots open for the kids’ tent and is seeking performers, teachers, dancers, etc., to fill 45-50 minutes slots with activities such as dance, crafts or music. Get in touch with Anne Maassen at anne@thedcstatefair.org if you or your organization is interested.
