The Lane, Huge Family Club in Ivy City, to Open Saturday

The Lane in Ivy City will open on Saturday, Feb. 15. It will hold a grand opening party on Feb. 23.

A giant spiral slide, 10-foot climbing wall, a pit of 20,000 balls–and a bar and cafe for the big people. Get ready: The Lane has announced it will open the doors to its 7,880-square-foot family social club on Saturday, Feb. 15.

(Note: The weekend roundup posted earlier incorrectly said the Lane would open Feb. 13. That post has been corrected.)

The club at 1408 Okie St NE will include play structures, comfortable seating, outdoor space, programming and party rooms on two levels. The space is designed with open views so that parents can keep an eye on the kid action from the comfort of a lounge chair.

The Lane is the brainchild of two moms, Molly Nizhnikov and Rachel Lubin, who wanted a fun space that caters to the whole family. They chose the name the LANE based on the first letters of their girls’ names: Lucy, Annie, Nora, Ella.

The cafe at the Lane will offer breakfast, lunch and snacks; a full coffee program, local beer from Atlas Brewery and Winc wine on draft (check out the menu). Birthday party packages feature catering options from local faves such as Astro Doughnuts and Fried Chicken, Bullfrog Bagel and Della Barba Pizza.

The Lane will hold an all-day grand opening party on Feb. 23, with face-painting, music, magic, dancing and more. Tickets are $25 per child (adults are free).

Capitol Hill Kid is planning to tour the space and get more details about the Lane. Check back in the coming days for photos and more.
