DCPS Closed Next Week Through End of March: Updates

Updates: The mayor’s briefing is rescheduled for 4 p.m. The mayor released a new list of sites for free lunches, as shown in images above and below.

DCPS announced this morning that schools will close to students Monday and resume operations on April 1. Monday will remain a professional development day for staff. Tuesday, March 17 -Monday, March 23 will replace spring break, which will not be held in April. Over the remaining days in March, students will participate in distance learning. All school events and activities are canceled. See announcement.

Mayor Muriel Bowser advised charter schools to conform with the directive and reopen on April 1, although their schedule of spring break, professional development day and remote learning may vary.

During the closure, DCPS will provide free meals to students from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following locations (updated to include additional sites):

DC Public Libraries are also closed starting March 16 and reopening April 1.
